the 38 colt short uses a heeled bullet which caused the case diameter to be smaller than the 38S&W. the only 38 caliber listed in any of the H&R catalogs for the large frame auto-ejecting models is the 38S&W. i believe i am safe in saying this revolver is NOT chambered for the 38 colt short.
